A Filestage alternative

Client approvals, inside your project board.

Skybase is project management with client approvals built into each job: free for up to 5 users, then $39.90 per user per year. Here is every Filestage plan beside it, in euros as Filestage lists them.

Every plan, side by side

Filestage sells each plan as one price for a team. Skybase bills per user. Both are shown for a year, billed yearly, in each company's own currency, and each Filestage figure links to the page it comes from.

  • Skybase: free for up to 5 users with every feature. Pro bills every user once a team passes 5, in US dollars.
  • Filestage lists its prices in euros, so this page doesn't convert them or work out a difference. Each is the month figure its yearly plan shows, and a year is 12 of them.
  • Every Filestage plan includes 10 team members: “This plan includes 10 seats. Need more? Add them in bundles of 5.” The price of a bundle isn't listed.
  • Its free plan allows “1 active project” at a time and up to “5 new files each month”.

How each asks for sign-off

Both send work to named people and keep what they decide. Filestage's side is from its own pages.

Skybase

Ask for approval on any job: choose the files, name who approves and set a due date. Each approver reviews from their own link in the email without signing in, pins comments on images, PDF pages and video, and chooses Approve, Approve with changes or Request changes. Reminders go out on their own, a new version asks again, and your team can check the work before the client is asked.

Filestage

Reviewers get a link, and “They don’t need to make an account to give feedback.” Its pricing page lists reviewer groups “for each stage of your project” and, on Starter and up, the option to “Send automated email reminders as the due date approaches”.

The approval sits on the job

In Skybase, files are signed off on the job they belong to, beside its tasks, comments and due date, so nothing is copied between a proofing tool and a project tool. Everything is on every plan, the Free plan included.

What reviewers and clients cost

Neither charges for the people who only review. The difference is what they join.

Skybase

An approver from the client joins your workspace as a single-project guest, free on either plan, and reviews from the link in each email. They see that project and the people on it, and can comment, upload and approve the work they're asked to approve. Add the same person to a second project and they count as a user.

Filestage

Its pricing page lists unlimited reviewers on every plan, and says “They don’t need to make an account to give feedback.” The 10 seats each plan includes are for your own team.

What Filestage does that Skybase doesn't

A dedicated proofing tool goes further on review. If your team relies on any of these, Skybase isn't the right fit today.

  • A free plan with 10 seats, where Skybase's Free plan has 5 users. It allows “1 active project” at a time.
  • Review without joining anything: “They don’t need to make an account to give feedback.” On Skybase, a client approver joins your workspace, free, as a single-project guest.
  • Review of websites, interactive HTML and audio: “Upload videos, images, designs, documents, websites, interactive HTML, and audio files”. Skybase previews images, PDFs and video for review, and other files can be downloaded.
  • Adobe integrations, such as “Share sequences and collect feedback inside Adobe Premiere Pro.”
  • Automated review agents on Business and Enterprise: “Our agents check grammar, tone, and style while verifying QR codes, barcodes, and mandatory images.”
  • More than two review stages: “Create reviewer groups for each stage of your project”, saved “as a template” on Business and up. Skybase has two at most: a team check, then the client.
  • Signed approvals for regulated work on Enterprise, which turn the approve button into “Approve and sign”.
  • Single sign-on, an add-on on Business and included on Enterprise, to “authenticate your team with your own identity provider via SSO”. Skybase has Sign in with Google, and no SAML.
  • Your own logo: “Add your own logo to the Filestage dashboard so your brand always shines through.”
  • More storage: 1 TB on Starter and 3 TB on Business, where Skybase Pro has 100 GB.

Starting with your next project

There's no importer for Filestage, so you start fresh. Finish the reviews already running there, and start the next piece of client work in Skybase.

  1. 1 Create a project for the client, and add the work as jobs with due dates.
  2. 2 Invite your team as team members.
  3. 3 Invite the client to the project as a single-project guest. It's free.
  4. 4 On a job, ask for approval: choose the files, name the approvers and set a due date. Each approver gets their own link by email.
  5. 5 When the next version is ready, add it to the same approval, and everyone is asked again.

FAQ

Common questions

Billing questions are on the pricing page. Anything else, email support@skybase.it.

How does Skybase compare with Filestage?
Filestage is a dedicated review tool, sold as plans for a team with 10 seats included. Skybase is project management with approvals built into each job, billed per user: free for up to 5 users, then $39.90 per user per year. Filestage lists its prices in euros and Skybase in US dollars, so this page sets them side by side without converting either.
Do reviewers and clients cost extra?
Not on either. On Skybase, a client on one project is a free single-project guest, on either plan, and reviews from the link in each email. On Filestage, its pricing page says reviewers “don’t need to make an account to give feedback”.
How do approvals work in Skybase?
Choose the files on a job, name who approves and give it a due date. Each approver reviews from their own link in the email without signing in, pins comments on images, PDF pages and video, and chooses Approve, Approve with changes or Request changes, with a note for the last two. Upload a new version and everyone is asked again, with earlier versions and their decisions kept.
Can I import my files and reviews from Filestage?
No. There's no importer for Filestage, so you start with your next piece of client work. Finish the reviews already running there, and start the next one in Skybase.
What does Filestage do that Skybase doesn't?
It reviews websites, interactive HTML and audio, works inside Adobe apps, has review agents that check files, runs more than two review stages, offers signed approvals on Enterprise, single sign-on and more storage. Its free plan has 10 seats, where Skybase's has 5 users. If your team relies on any of these, check which Filestage plans include them on its pricing page.
Are these prices in my currency?
Filestage lists its prices in euros, and Skybase in US dollars, both billed yearly and excluding tax. This page never converts one into the other, so it works out no difference between them. Tax and any discounts differ.
